Success Story
Dynamic Charting At IBM
IBM users needed to print updated charts for use at presentations and meetings. Problem was, all the Customer Satisfaction Survey Data was stored in hard-to-access tables.
Using Visual Mining solutions, users can now create easy-to-use, versatile GIF's of the most up-to-the-minute charts that can easily be printed on the fly from Web browsers.
How they did it:
NetChart Applets Snap Shot (no longer offered in the current version) utility added more versatility to IBM's challenge.
“I work at the IBM Toronto Software Development Lab and am responsible for a system Division worldwide. We have a DB/2 database running on OS/2 where we store the results of Product Diagnostic surveys that are run by an outside vendor.
"We have an intranet web site that allows anyone from within IBM to look at our
Customer Satisfaction results. The website uses Net.Data to perform queries against
the DB/2 database, and results are displayed in both table and chart formats. This is
where NetCharts comes in. Everything is dynamic. As these charts are used for
presentations, printing was necessary so I took advantage of NetCharts' SnapShot
utility. I present my users with a GIF that they can easily print using their web
browser.
"With NetCharts it is very easy to create pretty, complex charts in a short period of time. There are many good examples to help get you started. I really love the annotation feature. It allows endless possibilities for customization.”
