Platform Enhancements
- JVM Update
NetCharts Designer 5.1 is installed with a 1.5 JVM. This improves performance, compatibility and resolves issues related to the 2007 change in Daylight Savings Time definitions. - Variables in HTML Form Controls
NetCharts Designer 5.1 adds support for specifying variables to be used by HTML form controls. Form controls, such as pulldown menus and pick lists are often populated with database content that is dynamically generated when the page is requested. Now designers can identify HTML page variables that should be passed into the query that generates the form control content. - Improved Page Initialization
NetCharts Designer 5.1 generates pages with improved initialization logic. If a page contains HTML form controls, those controls are now pre-initialized and their new initial values are used in turn to initialize charts and tables on the page. - Improved Date Formatting in Calendar Control
The HTML calendar control now contains support for specifying the format for the date. This improves the ability of the calendar control to emit date values that can be used directly in database queries.
Asynchronous Java and XML (AJAX) Enhancements
NetCharts Designer 5.1 offers new AJAX based features to allow more immediate user interactivity and support cleaner, more detailed reports.
- Table Pagination
NetCharts Designer 5.1 supports the creation of paged HTML tables. Designers now have control over how many lines of text an HTML table will display. Controls can be exposed that allow users to move from page to page within a multipage HTML table. - Cascading Menu Support
NetCharts Designer 5.1 supports the creation of dependent, or "cascading" menu controls. A cascading menu is a menu that has its content controlled by selections from other menus. NetCharts Designer allows a user to place multiple menus on a page, and to have these menus automatically update their content based on selections made in other menus. AJAX processing can be enables to allow individual menus to update dynamically without a full page refresh.
